If you’re considering a rental truck for an upcoming move, you might be intrigued by advertisements for unlimited miles. While it sounds appealing not to watch mileage while driving a rental, the offers are not widely available and can add significant fuel costs to a move. We found one company offering unlimited miles — Penske®. ### Penske free miles According to their website, Penske offers unlimited free miles on one-way rentals. They’re the only national company we found advertising mileage at no extra cost. Mileage rates for local moves vary by location and typically range from $0.59 to $1.29 per mile. ### Budget extra mileage rates Budget allows you to purchase extra miles for $0.80 each when picking up the truck. If you wait and settle the overage when returning the equipment, the rate is $1.00 per mile. Mileage charges for local moves vary by location. ### U-Haul unlimited miles U-Haul does not offer unlimited mileage. If you go over the allowed number on a one-way move, there’s a charge of $1.00 per mile. Local move mileage charges vary depending on location and equipment. The rates typically range from $0.69 to $0.99 per mile. ## Are unlimited mileage rentals a good deal?
