Take in the Augusta sights
When outsiders of think Augusta, many just think of golf. But you know there’s much more than that. Before you leave the Garden City, take some time to enjoy these hot spots:
- The Riverwalk. Get outside and get some fresh air along the beautiful Savannah River. See the gardens, let the kids play at the playground, see a concert at the amphitheater or eat a meal at one of the restaurants along the river.
- The Augusta Museum of History. Take a 12,000-year journey through the region’s past through the exhibits and historical collections at the museum. Explore the region, the transportation and service people of the area, and of course, the rich golf history. You’ll also see an exhibit featuring the godfather of soul, James Brown, who grew up in Augusta.
- The Boyhood Home of President Woodrow Wilson. The museum honors the life of the 28th president, who grew up in Georgia during the Civil War and Reconstruction. It’s the oldest presidential residence in the state.
- The Imperial Theatre. Not only is this a great performance venue, but it’s also on the National Register of Historic Places. You can take in the beautiful architecture and a great show!
