Things to do in Oklahoma City

Oklahoma City is a relatively young state capital. It earned the title in 1910 after senators secretly voted to move it from Guthrie. Now, the city has a vibrant art scene, including multiple studios and galleries. Don’t miss the Paseo Arts District. 

You’ll also find the Bricktown entertainment district full of bars, restaurants and shops. Be sure to check out the multiple festivals in the area, including the Red Earth Festival, which honors Native American culture.  

If museums are more your speed, OKC has several, including the Oklahoma Railway Museum, the Science Museum Oklahoma and the Oklahoma City National Memorial and Museum. 

Making a living in OKC

OKC is known as an energy city due to its economy based on the oil and gas industry, but those aren’t the only industries offering opportunities. There is also a market for healthcare professionals, aviation engineers and skilled labor fields like machinery, pipe fitting and welding. 

As a state capital city, Oklahoma City also employs many residents in government. The Tinker Air Force Base, located in nearby Midwest City, also provides opportunities for people living in the area.
