A little Lansing History
If you're a history buff, you may find the history behind Lansing's existence interesting. After a visit to the Michigan area, two brothers returned to their home in Lansing, NY and sold plots of Michigan land to the locals. The buyers traveled to their new land in Michigan, only to find it under several feet of water—it was located in a flood zone. Despite the unfortunate circumstances, many decided to stay and make it work. They named the area "Lansing Township" after their home in New York. And, by all accounts, it was a success, considering that Lansing has grown into a thriving metropolis.
