How to Read Your U-Pack Moving Quote

Keep your long-distance moving quote easy to understand

Sorting through estimates from multiple long-distance moving companies can add stress to an already busy time in your life. Not all quotes are created equal, and understanding them while comparing your options can be complicated.

Fortunately, with a service like U-Pack®, not only is your quote straightforward, but your move will be too. Keep reading to review what you’ll find in a U-Pack quote.

What’s included in a U-Pack quote

Using U-Pack’s free online quote form is easy. Just enter where you currently live and where you plan to move. Next, choose when you’ll move (or select “Unknown” if you’re not sure) and choose the size of your home. Click “Get a Quote” for your personalized estimate.

You can also enter an email address to receive the quote, but it isn’t required. Providing an email also allows you to reference the estimate later and make updates, if needed.

Here’s what your U-Pack quote includes:

1. Reference number

Every quote has a unique reference number, and you’ll see yours at the top left side of the quote screen. A reference number allows our moving consultants to pull up the details of the move if you need to call with questions or changes.

You’ll also need it to make an online reservation. Each time your quote changes, our system adds a letter to the end of the number so we can see the changes and access the most recent information.

2. Locations and delivery type

The “Locations” section is in the middle-left of the quote, below the reference number. This section will include the delivery type and the origin and destination cities. Most U-Pack moving estimates include door-to-door service, but you can also select storage or service center delivery when making a reservation.

Be sure to confirm the information. The delivery and cities listed affect the price of your move, so you’ll want to update the information if anything is incorrect.

3. Schedule

The next part of the estimate shows the exact date we will drop off the moving equipment to start loading. You’ll also see an estimated transit time. This is the number of business days we expect it will take to get the equipment to the destination after it’s picked up (transit time currently averages 4-6 business days).

Note: The drop-off date can impact the cost. You can adjust it online or call a moving consultant to see how a different date will affect the price.

4. Equipment type

The equipment type(s) we recommend for the move are listed on the top right of the quote screen. U-Pack offers two kinds of equipment: ReloCube® containers and moving trailers. When both are available, you can toggle between them to compare prices. You can also adjust the number of containers or the linear feet in the moving trailer to see how it affects your rate.

5. Pricing details

Understanding U-Pack pricing is easy since the rate includes everything — equipment, transportation, taxes, fuel and liability coverage. You don’t have to worry about surprise charges later as long as the details don’t change.

No payment is due until your equipment is loaded and picked up. We also offer financing for those who qualify.
