Does Ryder rent moving trucks?
If you were considering using a Ryder truck for your upcoming move, we have some good news and bad news. Want to get the bad news out of the way? As of May 2019, Ryder no longer offers trucks for personal use. Their equipment is only available for commercial business customers. But here’s the good news: we can help you find an affordable moving alternative that’s comparable to a Ryder truck.
Finding options similar to Ryder trucks
Whether you were looking to Ryder for a cargo van, box truck or trailer for your personal long-distance move, U-Pack® has a solution.
While U-Pack isn’t a truck rental company, we specialize in long-distance moves where you pack and load, and we handle all the driving. We can help you find the perfect solution for your move. Learn more about how U-Pack works, and see below which options are most like the different Ryder moving trucks and trailer rentals.
Thinking about a Ryder Sprinter van?
These are small cargo vans with a 14-foot cargo area. Each Sprinter Van has 547 cubic feet of loading space. Compare it to the U-Pack ReloCube container. It’s 6’ x 7’ x 8’, so 1-2 would be the perfect equivalent. And the best part? You can reserve two, but if you only end up needing one, you only pay for one!
Considering a Ryder box truck?
Ryder’s box trucks are 16’ long with 960 cubic feet of space. For this move, you could use multiple ReloCube containers or move in a U-Pack moving trailer. Trailers are 28’ x 8’ x 9’, but you can use however much space you need (down to a five linear foot minimum). And, you don’t have to drive.
Wanting a Ryder straight truck?
The straight truck is 26’ long, with 1,600 cubic feet of space. A U-Pack moving trailer is the equivalent of this truck plus another 10’ rental truck, so there’s plenty of room and flexibility. And if you need more space, it’s always available.
Looking at Ryder trailers?
Ryder’s trailers are either enclosed dry vans or flatbed trailers, which can hold a lot; however, they must be hauled by a commercial tractor. If your belongings would require this size of equipment, the U-Pack trailer would be a great fit. You can use the whole thing (or even all or part of a second trailer). U-Pack offers great flexibility — just use what you need and pay for only what you use.
