Moving from New Haven, CT, to Durham, NC

Moving to a larger, less crowded city

Durham, or “Bull City,” has 283,506 residents according to the 2020 U.S. Census — around twice as many as New Haven, Connecticut. However, the larger population doesn’t extend to the metro areas since New Haven’s metro has about 200,000 more people.

Despite having a larger city population, you might feel less crowded in Durham since the population density is much lower. Keep reading to learn what differences to expect between “The Elm City” and your new home 565 miles away in North Carolina.
